BankQBO alternative: stmtai vs BankQBO

BankQBO converts statements for QuickBooks and says what we say: every page should balance before it exports. It is built for firms with client backlogs and priced that way, with the .qbo file starting on its second tier. This page compares the two on price per page, which plan includes which file, batch size, the API and what happens to the upload. Prices are from bankqbo.com in October 2026.

When BankQBO is the better choice

  • You hand over a client backlog of hundreds of statements: bulk upload is up to 50 files at once on Plus, 50 MB per statement.
  • You need thousands of pages a month: Starter includes 2,500 Base AI pages, Plus 10,000.
  • You want AI Smart Reports or transactions categorised into P&L reports alongside the conversion.
  • You need SSO, role-based access and a signed DPA, which BankQBO sells on Enterprise.

When stmtai is the better choice

  • You import into TallyPrime: Receipt and Payment vouchers as XML, on every plan.
  • You convert in bursts: $19 once for 100 pages that never expire, against $49 a month for BankQBO Starter; no statement is charged more than 15 pages.
  • You want the QuickBooks .qbo from the first free page; at BankQBO it starts on Plus at $149 a month.
  • You want the REST API or email-in without a $499 a month plan (BankQBO Pro): both are on every plan here, including Free.
  • You do not want uploads kept while your account is active: deletion of your file starts when processing ends.

Questions

Do both produce a real QuickBooks .qbo?

Yes. Both describe OFX 1.02 with the QuickBooks Web Connect headers that QuickBooks Online and Desktop import as a bank feed. Ours is checked against the same rules the free QBO checker applies, so a file we produce cannot carry a missing INTU.BID or a duplicate FITID; at BankQBO the .qbo is a Plus feature, here it is in the free pages.

Which is cheaper for a bookkeeper converting 60 pages a month?

At 60 pages a month a $19 pack lasts about seven weeks, or Pro gives 300 pages for $29. BankQBO Starter is $49 a month without the .qbo and Plus $149 with it. At thousands of pages a month BankQBO's allowances are larger; compare both on your own volume.

Can I try both?

Yes. BankQBO gives 3 statements once with no card, with watermarked Excel and CSV; here the first 5 pages need no signup and every download is included. Drop the same statement into each and check which pages each one flags.
