BankXLSX alternative: stmtai vs BankXLSX
BankXLSX reads more input formats than most converters, including MT940, BAI2, NACHA and camt.053 files, and adds categorised Smart Reports on top of the spreadsheet. stmtai reads PDFs, images, CSV, QIF and OFX and spends its effort on proving the rows against the printed balances before you download. This page sets the two side by side on inputs, exports, price and the balance check. Prices are from bankxlsx.com in October 2026.

- Tally XML. TallyPrime XML export: Receipt and Payment vouchers for Alt+O import, alongside Excel, CSV, QuickBooks and Xero.
- Non-expiring pack. $19 buys 100 pages that never expire, and no statement is charged more than 15 pages.
- API and email-in. REST API and email-in on every plan, including the free one.
- Your file. Deletion of your file starts when processing ends; results are kept 7 days with an account, 1 day without.
- Balance check. There is no per-bank template: every row is added up against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement, and a misread is flagged, not hidden. How the balance check works

When BankXLSX is the better choice
- Your input is an MT940, BAI2, NACHA or camt.053 file, or a bank CSV with its own layout: BankXLSX lists all of them; we read PDF, images, CSV, QIF and OFX.
- You need IIF for QuickBooks Desktop, or OFX, QFX or QIF for Quicken (Plus and above).
- You want a P&L report or categorised Smart Reports produced from the statements.
- Several people share one login: every BankXLSX plan has unlimited users; Business here has 10 seats.
When stmtai is the better choice
- You import into TallyPrime: Receipt and Payment vouchers as XML, on every plan.
- You convert in bursts: $19 once for 100 pages that never expire, against $49 a month for BankXLSX Starter; no statement is charged more than 15 pages.
- You want the QuickBooks .qbo and the Xero CSV from the first free page; at BankXLSX the QBO export starts on Plus at $149 a month.
- You want the REST API or email-in without a $499 a month plan (BankXLSX Pro): both are on every plan here, including Free.
- You want the rows proven against the printed opening and closing balances before you download, not only the running balance kept as a column.
- You do not want statements stored in an account: deletion of your file starts when processing ends.

Questions
Does BankXLSX reconcile the statement?
Its pages describe keeping the running balance in its own column and previewing the output to verify totals before you export. Here the check runs before the download: opening plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance and every running balance must follow, and the first row that breaks the chain is highlighted with the original page beside it.
Can stmtai read MT940 or camt.053 files?
No. We read PDF, scanned and photographed statements and CSV, QIF and OFX exports; BankXLSX lists MT940, BAI2, NACHA and camt.053 as inputs. Our guides explain both formats and the routes that work for them, but the converter itself does not take them.
Which is cheaper?
For a few statements a month, a $19 pack that never expires or Pro at $29 for 300 pages against BankXLSX Starter at $49 a month for 800 Base AI pages. At higher volumes compare BankXLSX's Base AI and Pro AI allowances with Business here (1,200 pages for $99); which model's pages you would use changes the answer.
