Convert Chase statements to Excel.
Checked to the cent.

Drop a Chase (JPMorgan Chase) PDF and get a clean spreadsheet, QuickBooks or Xero file in seconds. Every row is checked against the balances printed on the statement, so a misread is flagged, not hidden.

How to download a Chase statement as a PDF

  1. Sign in at chase.com and click the Main Menu icon (three lines) in the top left.
  2. Choose "Statements & documents" from that menu.
  3. Pick the account, then the year. Statements are listed by closing date.
  4. Click the Open or Save icon to the right of the statement you want and keep the PDF.
  5. In the Chase Mobile app the list is under "Profile & Settings", then "Statements & documents" in Document manager, then "Statements". Tap a statement to open it as a PDF and use the share sheet to save it.

Then drop the file above. Several months at once is fine; a year comes back as one workbook with a sheet per month.

Before you upload: is the PDF password-protected?

Chase statement PDFs open without a password. Nothing to remove before you upload.

What Chase statements look like

Multi-page PDF from chase.com with separate "Deposits and Additions" and "Electronic Withdrawals" sections, each with its own subtotal, and a daily ending balance table at the end.

A personal Total Checking statement is usually three to six pages with one "TRANSACTION DETAIL" table (Date, Description, Amount, Balance) and a running balance on every row. Business Complete Checking is a different animal: "DEPOSITS AND ADDITIONS", "CHECKS PAID", "ATM & DEBIT CARD WITHDRAWALS", "ELECTRONIC WITHDRAWALS" and "FEES" each get their own section and subtotal, with a "DAILY ENDING BALANCE" table at the back instead of a per-row balance. Dates are printed as MM/DD with no year, so the year has to come from the statement period line on page one. The account number sits top right on the first page under "Account Number", and the "CHECKING SUMMARY" box gives you beginning balance, totals per section and ending balance, which is what the tie-out uses. Card statements group activity by card member and list "PAYMENTS AND OTHER CREDITS" ahead of "PURCHASE".

Where Chase statements trip up other converters

  • Credits and debits are in separate sections rather than columns, so naive converters mix up the sign. We use the printed section subtotals to confirm which is which.
  • Dates show only month/day; the year comes from the statement period header.
  • The "Daily Ending Balance" table is used to verify running balances even though rows themselves have no balance column.

None of this is bank-specific configuration. The balance check catches these cases for every bank; this list just explains what you will see on a Chase file.

Why not just use Chase's own export?

From an account page, "More" then "Download account activity" (or the download icon above the transaction list) gives you a date range and a choice of Spreadsheet (CSV), Quicken (QFX) or QuickBooks (QBO). The window is roughly the last two years of activity, which is generous compared with most banks, and for a recent month the QBO file is perfectly usable. What it lacks is the statement itself: no opening or closing balance, no section subtotals, and the descriptions are the online versions rather than what was printed. For anything older than the download window, for a period you need to prove against a closing balance, or when a client hands you the PDFs they already have, converting the statement is the shorter route.

What you get back

  1. A green Balanced badge when the printed opening balance plus money in minus money out equals the printed closing balance, row by row. Or a red one pointing at the first row that does not add up, with a one-click swap if debit and credit look reversed.
  2. Click any misread cell, correct it, and the check re-runs before you download.
  3. Download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo), Xero CSV or Tally XML, whichever QuickBooks Online imports best, with a suggested category on every row.

Chase questions

Chase only shows 7 years of statements online. What about older ones?

Seven years is the ceiling for most deposit accounts, and some account types show less. For anything beyond that you are into a records request through the branch or secure message, which can take a couple of weeks and may carry a fee. If you get paper or a scanned copy back, it still converts; just expect to check the OCR on a scan more carefully than on a native PDF.

My Chase business statement has deposits and withdrawals in separate sections. Do I get one list or two?

One list, in date order, with deposits as credits and everything from the withdrawal sections as debits. We use the printed subtotal under each section to confirm the sign rather than guessing from the layout, and the DAILY ENDING BALANCE table to check the running balance since the rows themselves do not carry one.

Why does the year on some rows look wrong?

Because Chase prints only month and day, a statement that spans a year end (say December 15 to January 14) has rows from two different years. We take the year from the statement period and roll it over where the month goes from 12 back to 01. If you see a row with the wrong year, the statement period line was probably not read; check that page one is included in the PDF.

How do I convert a Chase statement PDF to Excel?

Download the statement PDF from Chase online banking or the app, drop it on this page, and wait about 10 to 40 seconds. You get every transaction in a table, a balance check against the printed opening and closing balance, and Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and Tally XML downloads. The first 5 pages are free with no account.

Do I need a Chase template?

No. The statement is read the way a person reads it, so Chase layout changes do not break anything. What protects you is the balance check: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance, row by row.

Does it work with scanned Chase statements?

Yes. Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read visually. Blurry pages may produce a flagged row; the check tells you exactly which one to look at.

Can I import Chase transactions into QuickBooks Online?

Yes. Download the .qbo file and use Upload from file in QuickBooks Online, or Web Connect import in QuickBooks Desktop. Excel and CSV work everywhere else, including Google Sheets.

How many Chase statements can I convert at once?

Up to 12 files at a time, 60 pages each. A year of monthly statements comes back as one Excel workbook with an Overview sheet showing which months balanced, a sheet per month with a Category column, and a Categories sheet totalling the year by category.

What happens to my statement?

It is processed once and deletion is attempted as soon as processing finishes; an AWS lifecycle rule removes anything left behind. The extracted table becomes eligible for deletion after 7 days (1 day without an account). Nothing is used for training.
