Checked to the cent.

Drop a BNP Paribas PDF and get a clean spreadsheet, QuickBooks or Xero file in seconds. Every row is checked against the balances printed on the statement, so a misread is flagged, not hidden.

How to download a BNP Paribas statement as a PDF

  1. Sign in to mabanque.bnpparibas with your numéro client and code secret. A strong-authentication prompt on the Mes Comptes app may follow.
  2. In the left navigation open Documents et relevés en ligne (online documents and statements). This section only appears if the Offre Relevés en ligne is active; it is free and can be switched on from the same espace client.
  3. Choose the account, then the year. Relevés are filed by year with one entry per statement date.
  4. Open the relevé de compte you want and download it as a PDF. Check the first and last operation dates against the month you meant to pull.
  5. In the Mes Comptes app: menu, then Documents et relevés, then the account and the statement, and use the download control to save the PDF to your phone.

Then drop the file above. Several months at once is fine; a year comes back as one workbook with a sheet per month.

Before you upload: is the PDF password-protected?

BNP Paribas relevés from the espace client have no password. They are identical in content to the paper relevé and can be uploaded directly.

What BNP Paribas statements look like

Relevé de compte with Date, Nature des opérations, Valeur, Débit, Crédit and a solde at the top and bottom.

A relevé de compte chèque from BNP Paribas is usually one to three pages a month for a personal account and opens with Solde créditeur au followed by the date, or Solde débiteur if the account was overdrawn. The table runs Date, Nature des opérations, Valeur, Débit and Crédit, and there is no running balance per line; the only balances are the opening and closing ones, plus a Report line when the table continues onto a second page. Dates are DD.MM or DD/MM/YYYY and amounts use French formatting, 1 234,56 with a space as the thousands separator and a comma decimal, so a naive copy into Excel turns them into text. Card spending is grouped under a FACTURE CARTE DU heading with the individual PAIEMENT CB lines beneath, and prélèvements carry the creditor name and a mandate reference that wraps. Do not mix these up with BNP Paribas Fortis statements from Belgium, which use a different layout.

Where BNP Paribas statements trip up other converters

  • French formatting (espace as thousands separator, decimal comma) is normalised.

None of this is bank-specific configuration. The balance check catches these cases for every bank; this list just explains what you will see on a BNP Paribas file.

Why not just use BNP Paribas's own export?

Under Comptes & Contrats there is a Télécharger mes opérations link that exports the account history as CSV, OFX, QIF or a PDF listing. Two limits matter. The export only reaches back about 90 days, so it is useful for the current quarter and not for a tax year, and the availability of some formats depends on your contract. The monthly relevés, by contrast, are archived for up to 10 years for a compte chèque. Beyond the 90-day window the PDF relevé is the only structured record you will get, which is where converting it makes sense. Professional customers on mabanquepro have their own document area under Virements et Services and a similar split between recent export and archived relevés.

What you get back

  1. A green Balanced badge when the printed opening balance plus money in minus money out equals the printed closing balance, row by row. Or a red one pointing at the first row that does not add up, with a one-click swap if debit and credit look reversed.
  2. Click any misread cell, correct it, and the check re-runs before you download.
  3. Download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo), Xero CSV or Tally XML, whichever Pennylane imports best, with a suggested category on every row.

BNP Paribas questions

French amounts like 1 234,56 have a space in them. Does that break the numbers?

No. The space (usually a non-breaking space in the PDF) is read as a thousands separator and the comma as the decimal, so 1 234,56 becomes the number 1234.56 in the output. If you copy and paste the same line into Excel yourself it arrives as text, which is the usual reason totals refuse to add up on French statements.

My BNP relevé only shows a balance at the top and bottom. Will I get a running balance?

Yes. Because the relevé prints only the Solde at the start and end, the running balance is rebuilt line by line from the opening figure and the Débit and Crédit columns. The last computed balance is compared with the printed closing Solde, and a mismatch is flagged so you know something in the middle was misread rather than discovering it in the ledger.

I need a full year but Télécharger mes opérations stops at three months. What now?

Go to Documents et relevés en ligne instead and download the twelve monthly PDFs for the year, which BNP keeps for up to 10 years. Convert them as a batch. Each month carries its own opening and closing Solde, so the twelve files chain together and you can confirm nothing is missing.

How do I convert a BNP Paribas statement PDF to Excel?

Download the statement PDF from BNP Paribas online banking or the app, drop it on this page, and wait about 10 to 40 seconds. You get every transaction in a table, a balance check against the printed opening and closing balance, and Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and Tally XML downloads. The first 5 pages are free with no account.

Do I need a BNP Paribas template?

No. The statement is read the way a person reads it, so BNP Paribas layout changes do not break anything. What protects you is the balance check: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance, row by row.

Does it work with scanned BNP Paribas statements?

Yes. Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read visually. Blurry pages may produce a flagged row; the check tells you exactly which one to look at.

Can I import BNP Paribas transactions into Pennylane?

Yes. Excel and CSV work everywhere else, including Pennylane, Sage.

How many BNP Paribas statements can I convert at once?

Up to 12 files at a time, 60 pages each. A year of monthly statements comes back as one Excel workbook with an Overview sheet showing which months balanced, a sheet per month with a Category column, and a Categories sheet totalling the year by category.

What happens to my statement?

It is processed once and deletion is attempted as soon as processing finishes; an AWS lifecycle rule removes anything left behind. The extracted table becomes eligible for deletion after 7 days (1 day without an account). Nothing is used for training.
