Convert ING statements to Excel.
Checked to the cent.
Drop a ING PDF and get a clean spreadsheet, QuickBooks or Xero file in seconds. Every row is checked against the balances printed on the statement, so a misread is flagged, not hidden.

How to download a ING statement as a PDF
- Log in to Mijn ING on the website. Choose Service in the menu, then under Je downloads en overzichten (your downloads and overviews) click Af- en bijschrijvingen downloaden (download debits and credits).
- Select the Soort rekening (account type, for example Betaalrekening) and the account, then the Datum van and Datum tot for the period. Whole months work best.
- Under Bestandsformaat (file format) pick PDF met boeksaldo, the PDF that includes the book balance. The other choices are CSV, MT940 and CAMT.053.
- Click Download naar bestanden and save the PDF. One file per account per period; for a year of monthly files, repeat with the dates moved on.
- The ING app can show and share transaction overviews for a single account, but the format options are narrower and change between releases. For bookkeeping, use the website route.
Then drop the file above. Several months at once is fine; a year comes back as one workbook with a sheet per month.
Before you upload: is the PDF password-protected?
ING PDFs are not password-protected. Nothing needs removing before you upload.
What ING statements look like
Datum, Naam/Omschrijving, Rekening, Tegenrekening, Code, Af Bij, Bedrag, Saldo (NL) or Buchung/Valuta/Auftraggeber/Betrag (DE).
A Dutch ING statement reads Af/Bij rather than Debit/Credit. Each line shows Datum in DD-MM-YYYY, the Naam / Omschrijving, the Rekening and Tegenrekening (own and counterparty IBAN), a single Bedrag with Af or Bij beside it, and the Mededelingen (payment description) which can run to several lines for iDEAL and incasso entries. Amounts use the Dutch comma decimal, 1.234,56, and the PDF met boeksaldo shows a Beginsaldo and Eindsaldo for the period so you can tie the file out. A personal Betaalrekening month is usually two to four pages; an ING Zakelijk (business) account with a lot of iDEAL receipts can hit fifteen or more. The periodic Rekeningafschrift that ING files under your documents is a different PDF with the same data laid out per statement number.
Where ING statements trip up other converters
- The Dutch "Af/Bij" column decides the sign; European decimal commas are handled.
None of this is bank-specific configuration. The balance check catches these cases for every bank; this list just explains what you will see on a ING file.
Why not just use ING's own export?
ING is generous with formats: the same Af- en bijschrijvingen downloaden screen offers a semicolon-separated CSV, MT940 and CAMT.053 as well as the PDF. The CSV is decent, with Datum, Naam / Omschrijving, Tegenrekening, an Af Bij column, Bedrag (EUR), Mededelingen and Saldo na mutatie, so recent months can go straight into a spreadsheet or accounting package. The catch is history: downloads reach back roughly 18 months as of 2026, and MT940 files combine all your accounts into one unless you pick the account explicitly. For anything older, or when a client has sent you only the PDFs, converting those is the route.
What you get back
- A green Balanced badge when the printed opening balance plus money in minus money out equals the printed closing balance, row by row. Or a red one pointing at the first row that does not add up, with a one-click swap if debit and credit look reversed.
- Click any misread cell, correct it, and the check re-runs before you download.
- Download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo), Xero CSV or Tally XML, whichever Exact imports best, with a suggested category on every row.

ING questions
ING shows Af and Bij instead of debit and credit columns. How do those come out?
Af (debited) rows land in the debit or withdrawal column and Bij (credited) rows in the credit or deposit column, with the amount as a positive number in each. If you prefer a single signed column for your accounting import, choose that layout on the download step. Either way the Eindsaldo at the foot of the PDF is there to check against.
Should I convert the PDF or just use the CSV, MT940 or CAMT.053 that ING already offers?
If your software imports CAMT.053 or MT940 and the period is inside the download window, use those, they are the cleanest source. The PDF route earns its place when the period is older than ING will export, when a client has only sent statements, or when you want a file with the opening and closing balance that you can eyeball in Excel. Remember to select one account at a time on the MT940 download or you get a combined file.
Can I only download whole months from ING?
You can enter any date range, but the PDF met boeksaldo is designed around full months and some lenders and accountants will only accept complete ones. Pick the first to the last day of the month and the balances will match the periodic Rekeningafschrift.
How do I convert a ING statement PDF to Excel?
Download the statement PDF from ING online banking or the app, drop it on this page, and wait about 10 to 40 seconds. You get every transaction in a table, a balance check against the printed opening and closing balance, and Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and Tally XML downloads. The first 5 pages are free with no account.
Do I need a ING template?
No. The statement is read the way a person reads it, so ING layout changes do not break anything. What protects you is the balance check: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance, row by row.
Does it work with scanned ING statements?
Yes. Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read visually. Blurry pages may produce a flagged row; the check tells you exactly which one to look at.
Can I import ING transactions into Exact?
Yes. Excel and CSV work everywhere else, including Exact, Moneybird.
How many ING statements can I convert at once?
Up to 12 files at a time, 60 pages each. A year of monthly statements comes back as one Excel workbook with an Overview sheet showing which months balanced, a sheet per month with a Category column, and a Categories sheet totalling the year by category.
What happens to my statement?
It is processed once and deletion is attempted as soon as processing finishes; an AWS lifecycle rule removes anything left behind. The extracted table becomes eligible for deletion after 7 days (1 day without an account). Nothing is used for training.
