Convert Ally statements to Excel.
Checked to the cent.
Drop a Ally Bank PDF and get a clean spreadsheet, QuickBooks or Xero file in seconds. Every row is checked against the balances printed on the statement, so a misread is flagged, not hidden.

How to download a Ally statement as a PDF
- Log in at ally.com and select your name at the top right, then "Profile and Settings".
- Choose "Statements and Tax Forms" under the Bank Accounts heading.
- Pick the statement month from the table; the PDF downloads when you select it.
- Ally app: tap Menu, then "Statements and Tax Forms", choose the month and use the share sheet to save the PDF.
- If you want a transaction file instead, open the account, scroll to Transactions History and use the download icon there.
Then drop the file above. Several months at once is fine; a year comes back as one workbook with a sheet per month.
Before you upload: is the PDF password-protected?
No password on Ally statement PDFs. They open directly on any device after download, and the same is true of the tax forms in that list.
What Ally statements look like
One monthly PDF for every account you hold, with a section per Spending Account, Savings, Money Market and CD, each carrying its own beginning balance, dated activity and ending balance.
Ally sends one statement a month covering every account under the same login, so a single PDF has a section for each Spending Account, Online Savings, Money Market and CD, with a beginning balance, dated rows and an ending balance per section. The statement date is set by the day the first account was opened rather than the last day of the month, which means a January statement can run from the 12th to the 11th. Dates print in MM/DD/YYYY form, descriptions name the counterparty bank for ACH transfers and the merchant for debit card spend, and interest posts as its own row on the final day of the cycle. Savings buckets and round-ups are shown in the app but are not transactions; only movements between accounts print. Active customers see recent statements in the list, with the exact window varying, while Ally states that after closing every account the statements stay available online for seven years. A quiet household is three to five pages; heavy debit card use on the Spending Account adds pages quickly.
Where Ally statements trip up other converters
- Because all accounts share one statement, a transfer from Spending to Savings shows twice, once in each section; convert one section per PDF so each ending balance is checked on its own.
- Savings buckets are labels inside one account and do not print as separate transactions, so a bucket move is not a row.
- The statement date follows the day the first account was opened, not the calendar month end.
None of this is bank-specific configuration. The balance check catches these cases for every bank; this list just explains what you will see on a Ally file.
Why not just use Ally's own export?
From the Transactions History block on any account page, the download icon offers a CSV or a Quicken QFX for a date range, with about eighteen months of activity available online. The CSV has date, time, a signed amount, a type, a description and a balance column, which is more than many banks give you. Its limits are that it is one account per file, so a household with a Spending Account, three savings accounts and two CDs is six downloads, and that there is no QBO option for QuickBooks; the QFX imports into Quicken and QuickBooks Desktop but QuickBooks Online users end up mapping the CSV. Ally does not offer business accounts, so there is no business export tier to look for. Past eighteen months the statement PDFs are the only source.
What you get back
- A green Balanced badge when the printed opening balance plus money in minus money out equals the printed closing balance, row by row. Or a red one pointing at the first row that does not add up, with a one-click swap if debit and credit look reversed.
- Click any misread cell, correct it, and the check re-runs before you download.
- Download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo), Xero CSV or Tally XML, whichever Excel imports best, with a suggested category on every row.

Ally questions
My Ally PDF covers checking, savings and two CDs. Do I upload it once?
Upload it once per account you need. Each section has its own beginning and ending balance, and the check needs one pair to reconcile against, so print the pages for the Spending Account to their own PDF and the pages for savings to another. CD sections with a single interest line can be journaled by hand and skipped.
Why does the transfer from my Spending Account to savings appear twice?
Because both accounts are on the same statement and each records its side of the move. Once you convert the two sections separately you get one withdrawal row in the Spending sheet and one deposit row in the savings sheet, which is how a transfer should land in QuickBooks or Xero: matched as a transfer, not booked as income and expense.
How do I convert a Ally statement PDF to Excel?
Download the statement PDF from Ally online banking or the app, drop it on this page, and wait about 10 to 40 seconds. You get every transaction in a table, a balance check against the printed opening and closing balance, and Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and Tally XML downloads. The first 5 pages are free with no account.
Do I need a Ally template?
No. The statement is read the way a person reads it, so Ally layout changes do not break anything. What protects you is the balance check: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance, row by row.
Does it work with scanned Ally statements?
Yes. Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read visually. Blurry pages may produce a flagged row; the check tells you exactly which one to look at.
Can I import Ally transactions into Excel?
Yes. Download the .qbo file and use Upload from file in QuickBooks Online, or Web Connect import in QuickBooks Desktop. Excel and CSV work everywhere else, including Google Sheets.
How many Ally statements can I convert at once?
Up to 12 files at a time, 60 pages each. A year of monthly statements comes back as one Excel workbook with an Overview sheet showing which months balanced, a sheet per month with a Category column, and a Categories sheet totalling the year by category.
What happens to my statement?
It is processed once and deletion is attempted as soon as processing finishes; an AWS lifecycle rule removes anything left behind. The extracted table becomes eligible for deletion after 7 days (1 day without an account). Nothing is used for training.
