How to download a Fidelity statement as a PDF
- Log in at fidelity.com and go to "Accounts & Trade", then "Statements".
- Select the Cash Management Account in the account filter, or leave all accounts to see consolidated statements.
- Pick the statement month and click the "PDF" link beside it (the HTML view is a summary and omits detail).
- Save the PDF from the viewer.
- Fidelity Investments app: tap your profile, then "Documents" or "Statements", choose the account and month, and share the PDF to save it.
Then drop the file above. Several months at once is fine; a year comes back as one workbook with a sheet per month.
Before you upload: is the PDF password-protected?
Fidelity statement PDFs are not encrypted. Note that if you want the imaged check copies that once came with paper statements, those are mailed separately to electronic delivery customers and are not in the PDF.
What Fidelity statements look like
A brokerage-style statement for a checking-style account: Account Summary with beginning and ending value, a Holdings block showing the core position, then Activity split into sections such as Deposits, Withdrawals, Bill Payments, Checks Paid and Core Fund activity.
A Cash Management Account statement is built on Fidelity's brokerage template. Page one has the Account Summary with Beginning Account Value and Ending Account Value, then a Holdings block showing the core position, either the FDIC-Insured Deposit Sweep or a money market fund such as SPAXX, at its month-end balance. Activity follows, split into sections such as Deposits, Withdrawals, Bill Payments, Checks Paid, Debit Card purchases and Core Fund activity, each dated MM/DD with the year on the period line and each with its own total. The Core Fund lines are the sweep into and out of the core position and mirror the cash movements; they are not additional transactions. For a CMA holding only cash the Ending Account Value equals the cash balance, so the check runs beginning value plus deposits and interest minus payments equals ending value. Statements are monthly and typically four to eight pages, ten years are kept online, and a household statement bundles several accounts into one PDF with the CMA as one section.
Where Fidelity statements trip up other converters
- Core Fund activity lines record the sweep into and out of the FDIC-insured deposit or money market position; they mirror the cash movements and are not a second set of transactions.
- The ending figure is an account value, not a ledger balance, but for a pure cash CMA they are the same number and the check ties to it.
- Household statements bundle several Fidelity accounts into one PDF; print the CMA pages on their own before converting.
None of this is bank-specific configuration. The balance check catches these cases for every bank; this list just explains what you will see on a Fidelity file.
Why not just use Fidelity's own export?
On the account page, "Activity & Orders" then History shows transactions and has a Download link that produces a CSV; Fidelity describes the online history as covering the last few years in ninety-day segments, and older activity is referred back to the statements. The CSV is a brokerage layout with columns for Run Date, Action, Symbol, Description, Type, Quantity, Price, Commission, Fees, Amount and Settlement Date, so for a cash account most columns are empty and the core sweep buys and sells appear as rows alongside the real deposits and payments. Fidelity also supports Quicken direct connect. Neither route carries the statement beginning and ending value, and the sweep rows need stripping out before a CSV will reconcile, which is why the PDF is the cleaner source for a month that has to tie.
What you get back
- A green Balanced badge when the printed opening balance plus money in minus money out equals the printed closing balance, row by row. Or a red one pointing at the first row that does not add up, with a one-click swap if debit and credit look reversed.
- Click any misread cell, correct it, and the check re-runs before you download.
- Download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo), Xero CSV or Tally XML, whichever QuickBooks Online imports best, with a suggested category on every row.

Fidelity questions
What do I do with the Core Fund activity lines on a Fidelity CMA statement?
Leave them out of the ledger. Each deposit is matched by a sweep purchase and each payment by a sweep sale, so they are the mechanism, not the money. If they are treated as transactions the totals double and the check fails on the first sweep row; the fix is to remove those rows so only Deposits, Withdrawals, Bill Payments, Checks and Debit Card rows remain.
My Fidelity statement covers a brokerage account and the CMA together. Can I convert only the CMA?
Yes, by printing the CMA section to its own PDF first. Consolidated statements give each account its own Account Summary and Activity block, and the check needs one beginning and ending value to work against. The brokerage account pages hold positions and trades and are a different job; if you need its cash activity, convert that section separately.
Which bank do I set up in QuickBooks for a Fidelity CMA?
Fidelity itself, as a bank-type account, since Fidelity Brokerage Services issues the statement and the debit card and checks draw on it. The FDIC sweep banks listed in the Holdings block change from month to month and are not the account holder. Name the account with the last four digits of the Fidelity account number so the .qbo import matches each month.
How do I convert a Fidelity statement PDF to Excel?
Download the statement PDF from Fidelity online banking or the app, drop it on this page, and wait about 10 to 40 seconds. You get every transaction in a table, a balance check against the printed opening and closing balance, and Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and Tally XML downloads. The first 5 pages are free with no account.
Do I need a Fidelity template?
No. The statement is read the way a person reads it, so Fidelity layout changes do not break anything. What protects you is the balance check: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance, row by row.
Does it work with scanned Fidelity statements?
Yes. Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read visually. Blurry pages may produce a flagged row; the check tells you exactly which one to look at.
Can I import Fidelity transactions into QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Download the .qbo file and use Upload from file in QuickBooks Online, or Web Connect import in QuickBooks Desktop. For Xero, download the Xero CSV and use Import a Statement on the bank account. Excel and CSV work everywhere else, including Google Sheets.
How many Fidelity statements can I convert at once?
Up to 12 files at a time, 60 pages each. A year of monthly statements comes back as one Excel workbook with an Overview sheet showing which months balanced, a sheet per month with a Category column, and a Categories sheet totalling the year by category.
What happens to my statement?
It is processed once and deletion is attempted as soon as processing finishes; an AWS lifecycle rule removes anything left behind. The extracted table becomes eligible for deletion after 7 days (1 day without an account). Nothing is used for training.
