Checked to the cent.
Drop a Marcus by Goldman Sachs PDF and get a clean spreadsheet, QuickBooks or Xero file in seconds. Every row is checked against the balances printed on the statement, so a misread is flagged, not hidden.

How to download a Marcus statement as a PDF
- Sign in at marcus.com and open the Online Savings Account or CD from the account list.
- Select "Statements" from the account menu; some views label the area "Statements & Documents".
- Choose the statement month and click to open the PDF.
- Save the file from the viewer using the download control.
- Marcus app: tap the account, then "Statements" or "Documents", pick the month and save the PDF through the share sheet.
Then drop the file above. Several months at once is fine; a year comes back as one workbook with a sheet per month.
Before you upload: is the PDF password-protected?
Marcus statement PDFs are not encrypted. The file opens without a password once saved, so there is nothing to strip before uploading.
What Marcus statements look like
A short savings statement issued by Goldman Sachs Bank USA: an account summary, then a dated list of transfers in and out plus a monthly interest credit, with the closing balance in the summary.
Marcus is a brand of Goldman Sachs Bank USA and the statement header says so, which is the bank name your software should carry. Statements run on a calendar month, are almost always one or two pages, and open with an account summary showing the beginning balance, deposits, withdrawals, interest paid and ending balance, followed by a dated transaction list. Because there is no debit card or check writing, every row is an ACH transfer, a wire or an interest credit, and descriptions typically show the external institution and the last digits of the linked account. Dates print in full month/day/year form. Interest posts on the last day of the month and, in a quiet month, may be the only row. CDs receive their own statement with interest accrual and maturity events. How many months stay online varies and Marcus does not publish a figure, so save each PDF as it arrives if you are keeping records for tax or a lender.
Where Marcus statements trip up other converters
- Most months hold fewer than ten rows, so a single misread transfer amount is a large share of the activity and the closing balance check exposes it at once.
- There is no debit card and no check writing, so every outgoing row is an ACH or wire; descriptions name the external bank rather than a merchant.
- CD sections list interest and maturity events only and rarely need converting at all.
None of this is bank-specific configuration. The balance check catches these cases for every bank; this list just explains what you will see on a Marcus file.
Why not just use Marcus's own export?
Marcus does not advertise a Quicken, QuickBooks or OFX download for its deposit accounts, and its help pages describe statements only as PDFs. If your login shows a transaction download it covers recent activity as a list and not a statement with balances; treat the availability as varying by account. That leaves the monthly PDF as the working record, which is less of a problem here than at a full-service bank: a savings account with a handful of transfers and one interest line each month converts in seconds, and the closing balance gives you the proof the export would not. For a customer with several CDs and savings accounts, one statement per account per month is the whole job.
What you get back
- A green Balanced badge when the printed opening balance plus money in minus money out equals the printed closing balance, row by row. Or a red one pointing at the first row that does not add up, with a one-click swap if debit and credit look reversed.
- Click any misread cell, correct it, and the check re-runs before you download.
- Download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo), Xero CSV or Tally XML, whichever Excel imports best, with a suggested category on every row.

Marcus questions
Which bank name do I use for a Marcus account in QuickBooks?
Goldman Sachs Bank USA, with Marcus in the nickname. Marcus is a product brand, not a chartered bank, and the statement header, the routing number and any lender or auditor reading your books all point to Goldman Sachs Bank USA. Set it up once that way and the monthly .qbo import lands in the same account every time.
Is it worth converting a Marcus statement that has only two lines?
For a single month, probably not; type the transfer and the interest into your ledger. Where it pays is a year or more of history across several accounts, because the balance check confirms the opening balance of each month matches the closing balance of the previous one, and the interest total for the year falls out of the sheet for the 1099-INT tie.
How do I convert a Marcus statement PDF to Excel?
Download the statement PDF from Marcus online banking or the app, drop it on this page, and wait about 10 to 40 seconds. You get every transaction in a table, a balance check against the printed opening and closing balance, and Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and Tally XML downloads. The first 5 pages are free with no account.
Do I need a Marcus template?
No. The statement is read the way a person reads it, so Marcus layout changes do not break anything. What protects you is the balance check: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance, row by row.
Does it work with scanned Marcus statements?
Yes. Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read visually. Blurry pages may produce a flagged row; the check tells you exactly which one to look at.
Can I import Marcus transactions into Excel?
Yes. Download the .qbo file and use Upload from file in QuickBooks Online, or Web Connect import in QuickBooks Desktop. Excel and CSV work everywhere else, including Google Sheets.
How many Marcus statements can I convert at once?
Up to 12 files at a time, 60 pages each. A year of monthly statements comes back as one Excel workbook with an Overview sheet showing which months balanced, a sheet per month with a Category column, and a Categories sheet totalling the year by category.
What happens to my statement?
It is processed once and deletion is attempted as soon as processing finishes; an AWS lifecycle rule removes anything left behind. The extracted table becomes eligible for deletion after 7 days (1 day without an account). Nothing is used for training.
