Convert Truist statements to Excel.
Checked to the cent.

Drop a Truist PDF and get a clean spreadsheet, QuickBooks or Xero file in seconds. Every row is checked against the balances printed on the statement, so a misread is flagged, not hidden.

How to download a Truist statement as a PDF

  1. Sign in to Truist online banking and select the account from the dashboard.
  2. Click "Statements & Documents" in the account navigation.
  3. Choose the statement period. eStatements are listed for up to 7 years.
  4. Click the PDF link and save the file.
  5. Truist Mobile app: tap the account, then "Statements", then the period, and save from the share sheet.

Then drop the file above. Several months at once is fine; a year comes back as one workbook with a sheet per month.

Before you upload: is the PDF password-protected?

None. Truist eStatements are ordinary PDFs; the same was true of BB&T and SunTrust statements before the merger.

What Truist statements look like

Deposits/credits and Other withdrawals/debits sections with subtotals; a daily balance summary at the end.

Current Truist checking statements use a single table with Date, Description, Subtractions, Additions and Balance, which makes them easier than most to check: every row has a running balance and the ending balance in the summary box must match the last row. Business statements add a "Checks Paid" section, and checking statements end with a "Daily Ledger Balance" summary that is not transaction data. Dates are MM/DD with the year from the statement period. The wrinkle is history: statements from 2019 through 2022 may still carry BB&T or SunTrust branding and layouts (SunTrust in particular used "Deposits/Credits" and "Withdrawals/Debits" blocks), so a folder of seven years of Truist statements can contain three different formats. Page counts are short, three to six pages for personal accounts, plus the occasional full-page promotional insert.

Where Truist statements trip up other converters

  • Legacy SunTrust and BB&T layouts still appear on older statements; both are read the same way since the balance check does not depend on layout.

None of this is bank-specific configuration. The balance check catches these cases for every bank; this list just explains what you will see on a Truist file.

Why not just use Truist's own export?

Click into an account and there is a download button above the transactions that offers the last 30 days, the last 60 days or a custom range, with CSV as the default format. The CSV carries two date columns (Posted Date and Transaction Date, usually identical) and one signed Amount column, so it needs splitting before most accounting software will accept it, and Truist changed the column layout in late 2025, which broke a lot of saved import mappings. It has no running balance. Business online banking advertises 18 months of downloadable history. For anything older, or for the balance column, the PDF is the only place it exists.

What you get back

  1. A green Balanced badge when the printed opening balance plus money in minus money out equals the printed closing balance, row by row. Or a red one pointing at the first row that does not add up, with a one-click swap if debit and credit look reversed.
  2. Click any misread cell, correct it, and the check re-runs before you download.
  3. Download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo), Xero CSV or Tally XML, whichever QuickBooks Online imports best, with a suggested category on every row.

Truist questions

I have old BB&T and SunTrust statements from before the merger. Do those convert?

Yes. They are read as their own layouts rather than forced through the current Truist format, and the same opening-to-closing balance check applies. Expect the description wording to differ across the three eras, which matters if you rely on rules in QuickBooks; the amounts and dates are consistent.

My Truist CSV import stopped working after the format change. Should I switch to the PDF?

For a month or two you can simply remap the CSV columns. If you are catching up a longer period, or you want the running balance to confirm nothing is missing, the PDF statements are quicker: the layout has not changed, every row carries a balance, and the output columns are the same every month regardless of what Truist does to the CSV.

How do I convert a Truist statement PDF to Excel?

Download the statement PDF from Truist online banking or the app, drop it on this page, and wait about 10 to 40 seconds. You get every transaction in a table, a balance check against the printed opening and closing balance, and Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and Tally XML downloads. The first 5 pages are free with no account.

Do I need a Truist template?

No. The statement is read the way a person reads it, so Truist layout changes do not break anything. What protects you is the balance check: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the printed closing balance, row by row.

Does it work with scanned Truist statements?

Yes. Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read visually. Blurry pages may produce a flagged row; the check tells you exactly which one to look at.

Can I import Truist transactions into QuickBooks Online?

Yes. Download the .qbo file and use Upload from file in QuickBooks Online, or Web Connect import in QuickBooks Desktop. Excel and CSV work everywhere else, including Google Sheets.

How many Truist statements can I convert at once?

Up to 12 files at a time, 60 pages each. A year of monthly statements comes back as one Excel workbook with an Overview sheet showing which months balanced, a sheet per month with a Category column, and a Categories sheet totalling the year by category.

What happens to my statement?

It is processed once and deletion is attempted as soon as processing finishes; an AWS lifecycle rule removes anything left behind. The extracted table becomes eligible for deletion after 7 days (1 day without an account). Nothing is used for training.
