What counts as a page

How pages are counted for PDFs, images and text exports, when they are charged, and how monthly and pack pages are used up.

Last reviewed

Everything on stmtai is priced in pages.

Counting

  • One page of a PDF is one page.
  • One image file (PNG or JPG) is one page.
  • Text formats (CSV, QIF, OFX, QFX, TXT) count one page per 4,000 characters. A 4,001-character file is 2 pages.

A single upload can have at most 60 pages and be at most 20 MB. A longer PDF is cut into parts of up to 60 pages on your device before anything is sent; each part is charged its own pages, so the total is the same as the original.

When pages are charged

The page count is worked out as soon as the file is inspected, before it is read. If you have enough pages, they are reserved and the statement is read. If you do not, the conversion stops there: nothing is charged, the file is deleted, and the page tells you how many pages the file needs and how many you have left.

If a conversion fails after the pages were reserved, they are given back. Failed conversions are never charged.

Once a conversion succeeds, the pages are spent even if you later edit the table or delete the result. The number of pages used is shown at the bottom of every results page.

Where pages come from

Without an account you have 5 pages in total. With a free account you have 10 pages a month. Pro gives 300 pages a month and Business gives 1,200 pages a month shared by up to 5 people. A Pages Pack adds 100 pages that never expire.

Pages are taken from your monthly allowance first, then from your pack. Your account page shows both numbers separately: pages left this month, with the date they reset, and pack pages remaining.

On Pro and Business the monthly allowance starts again on your billing date, the day your subscription renews, so the pages you pay for line up with the month you paid for. On the free plan it starts again on the first of each calendar month. Pages you did not use in a month do not roll over. Pack pages are the exception: they stay until you use them.

Team plans

If you are a seat on someone else's Business plan, your conversions use their pages, and the numbers on your account page are the team's totals. See Team seats on Business.
